Tai Kai Jiu-Jitsu Programs and Classes

Interested in the martial arts programs offered at Tai Kai Jiu Jitsu?

Here’s a breakdown of the various programs and classes we offer:

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

This class focuses on learning and applying fundamental techniques of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Students practice various techniques using a traditional GI/kimono. Students will learn and practice submissions, escapes, positioning and self defense. The fundamentals class is directed not only for the beginner but also for the more advanced students who would like to sharpen basic techniques.Students will also learn advanced techniques for competitions and self-defense. Students will learn and practice advanced sweeps, advanced submissions, advanced escapes and counters, how to reverse an attacker and how to force your opponent into submission. Competition is encouraged but not required.

Submission Grappling

This class focuses on learning and applying Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu without the traditional GI/kimono. Students practice various techniques wearing shorts and a t-shirt.

The NO-GI training makes it a faster and more dynamic style of fighting. If you are interested in a good fitness program or just to be a more complete fighter, the NO-GI program offers a good combination of both.

Open Mat

This is a non-instructional open sparring session. Students get together and either drill techniques or spar. This is the time when you get to test all of your techniques and fine tune everything.

Mixed Martial Arts

This program is designed exclusively for students whose main interest is Mixed Martial Arts. It’s designed for both students whose goal is to fight and also for students that are not interested in fighting but still want to get the positive benefits of Mixed Martial Arts Training. This program is for the student that wants to become a COMPLETE well-rounded martial artist. Students enrolled in our Mixed Martial Arts Program will be invited to all of our private closed-door training sessions.

Boxing

This class will teach boxing fundamentals and techniques. It will be offered with different levels so there is a progression offered to those avid fight fans. It will focus on perfect jabs, hooks, uppercut and power punches. Training will consist of mitt, heavy bag, speed bag, jump rope, footwork drills and defensive tactics. It will offer opportunities for student to spar with instructors and individuals of their same level. Sanctioned boxing gloves and wraps required. See our store for proper equipment.

Kali

Kali is an ancient martial art of the Philippines dating back to the ninth century. Kali is one of the most comprehensive martial art systems available. Encompassing an entire spectrum of weaponry, Kali also features sophisticated “empty hands” techniques, kicks, knees, sweeps, throws and joint locking techniques. The system of Filipino martial arts taught Kevin Seaman at Tai Kai is the method taught at the Inosanto Academy in Los Angeles, California, one of the top schools in the world for martial arts.

Muay Thai – Thai Boxing

This system is sometimes referred to as Thai Boxing.. The Thai art is a very powerful ring fighting method, yet is also an excellent form of physical conditioning and street self-defense. The fighting techniques taught in Thai Boxing include: the Western boxing method, elbow strikes, knees and the powerful Thai style of kicking. This, combined with a unique training method and discipline, makes Thai Boxing one of the most effective systems in the world. Muay Thai is the clear choice for striking by the top fighters in the UFC. The Muay Thai system taught at Tai Kai is the form taught to Kevin Seaman by Master Surachai Sirisute. Kevin Seaman is an Associate Instructor and Special Advisor for the Thai Boxing Association of the U.S.A

Judo

Judo is a martial art that originated in Japan. Judo means “gentle way”. This does not imply that strength is not used in Judo; instead “gentle way” means that the strength of an opponent should not be resisted. Rather, the opponents strength and force should be combined with the competitors own strength and force to be used against the opponent..

Wrestling Takedowns

The takedowns learned in wrestling are a great tool for anyone looking to compete at any level of Mixed Martial Arts or Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competition. Our wrestling classes are taught by former college wrestlers. We are proud to offer classes specifically on the strong points of wrestling takedowns.

Fitness Kickboxing

Is a workout style class focused on a combination of boxing and kicking with emphasis on conditioning, strength training and cardiovascular training.

Yoga

Practicing the postures, breathing exercises and meditation makes you healthier in body, mind and spirit. Great for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu students.
