Real Muay Thai HITS the North Country with a BANG!

Congratulations to Tai-Kai’s own Ajarn Kevin Seaman and his company Smiling Tiger Productions  for promoting an excellent Thai Boxing event on Saturday April 12th, 2014.  The inaugural event was held at Jefferson Community College in Watertown, New York.  The event featured fighters from all over the Northeast, including several combatants from Tai-Kai Martial Arts in Liverpool.

Results:  Brad Setter won a tough fight via unanimous decision (see video below).  Stephen Elsenbeck fought his heart out against a much larger opponent, losing a tough – hard fought decision.  It must be noted that Steve is a true warrior, having now competed in Boxing, Muay Thai and MMA!  Tai-Kai’s “death metal” drummer for the band Ghost Ship, heavyweight Chris Smith made his successful Muay Thai debut completely dominating all three rounds against a large, game opponent.  In the lightweight division, Tai-Kai’s Cory Lawson made his amateur Muay Thai debut. By the end of the three round contest, Cory had the crowd on it’s feet!   In spite losing his fight by a spit decision (a one point difference), Cory fought like a pro.  In his amateur debut, Mike Bowes fought his heart out, losing a tough fight.  In true warrior fashion, Mike was back in the gym on Sunday working hard to improve his already great skills!

Smiling Tiger Productions awarded Tai-Kai instructor Dennis Sugrue with “Coach on the night” honors.  Special congratulations and thank you to Dennis Sugrue and Chris Roach for cornering and coaching the Tai-Kai fighters.
